Our ward did trunk or treat on Saturday, kind of early but whatever. We borrowed a lion costume from Corina. It was a 2/3 T and sadly it fit him really well. The pants were a little big but nothing rolling them up couldn't solve. He made one really cute lion. He didn't completely undersand the concept, but I really just wanted pictures. He sure had fun going to different people and getting candy for Mommy and Daddy. Some of the people decorated their cars and he loved them, especially the ones with flashing lights.
Axton's hands are blurry because he was clapping. He was really excited to wear the costume. I was so surprised that he didn't try to take it off once. He did so good.
Daniela (ladybug), Axton (lion), and Vanessa (kitty). They all looked so adorable. I can't wait until Friday when they all get to do it again.
Axton's ready to move on to the next vehicle.
Axton slowly getting the idea.
(I don't know why it is being retarded and making it sideways so everyone just has to live with it!)

Perfect Logic
This is for Greg! For those of you who don't know Greg very well, he is a great debator, why he didn't do it in high school I'll never know. I rarely try to take him on because he has a knack for twisting words to fit his point of veiw and can leave you wondering what just happened! I can never remember what we are arguing about because I get so confused and end up walking away scratching my head.
Easy Example:
We were reading our scriptures together (well I was reading to him and he was trying not to fall asleep). Before we started though I told him at the rate we were going we might finish the BOM in another 3 years!! He said, "there are only 431 pages, it won't take us that long." Then I said it was more like 529 pages. So we looked it up and there are 531. Logic says that I was closest because I was only 2 pages off. But not so. Greg was closest with his reasoning because he had 2 out of the 3 numbers correct making him 66% right and I only had one making me 33% right!
Yep this is how most of our arguements go but they aren't as easy to follow as this one was.

Oklahoma Trip
I decided to bite the bullet and go to Oklahoma to see my dad and step-mom WITHOUT Greg. I had been hoping to hold out long enough that the three of us could go but it just wasn't going to happen in the near future. They had never met Axton so Axton and I packed our bags and went to Oklahoma for about 4 days. He is so great when he is around people. The flights were excellent with only a couple of very minor (30 seconds or less) break downs. Food is a great tool with little ones.
Axton got a lot of firsts while we were there. He get got to help steer the Gator (john deere) which was heaven for him since he loves anything with wheels. He was more interested in the Schwans Truck than in me taking his picture.
It didn't take long for Axton to discover the bucket of water that is for the kitties. He had a blast soaking himself day after day in it. Some battles you just won't win so why try? He managed to make a puddle and enjoyed stomping in it and grabbing mud. He quickly learned he didn't like the taste of mud!
On Saturday we went to an Auction and they had this really cute John Deere bike with training wheels. He was obsessed with it from the moment he saw it. Thanks Grandpa for buying it! He really enjoyed trying to push it all by himself and loved being pushed around on it. I think we all got our exercise for the month!
My parents have an indoor dog that is about as spoiled as they come. Axton found some of his toys and was putting them in Grandpa's boot, one of which was soft beaver (I think). He kept trying to cuddle with the boot and animal.
He also got to play around on the John Deere tractor (are you noticing a theme yet!). It had all sorts of gadgets to play with.
He also got to try and steer the lawn mower, yep John Deere again! He wasn't so sure of it at first but he really liked going in circles once he got used to it. I have video of it that I might or might not post. Depends on how long he stays asleep!
Another bunch of firsts for him was all of the animals. He is in love with puppies. Here he got to meet their 3 purebred wolves. Only Shadow was brave enough to get close to us. Shanook and Spirit kept their distance although they were curious.
He got to pet and sit on his first horse. They have 4 horses and he loved being by them, but He didn't enjoy being on them as much. Maybe when he gets older.
He also got to see a pig. He thought the sounds it was making was pretty funny and he kept laughing. He didn't want to get too close to it which was great for me because I didn't want to have to keep pulling him back.
He got to meet kitties which I only have a video of. He kept trying to pull their tails and pry open their mouths so he could feel their tongues. Only one really put up with this. That same one also let Axton sit on him (he's become obsessed with sitting on everything and anything), so the kittie wasn't the brightest.
One last thing was the train. You can't see it that well in the picture but trains run by their house several times a day. I wasn't sure if the sound would scare him or not but he ended up laughing when they were there and then crying when they would go out of site. Someday I'll teach him to count the cars, altough we don't see a lot of trains around here.
Overall it was a very good getaway. I won't say vacation because there was nothing relaxing about it. Axton is quite the busybody and loved getting into everything. I had to constantly watch him but it was worth it. Next time though, Greg WILL be coming to help me.

Naked Baby
Over a month ago Axton discovered that he can get in and out of the bathtub by himself. I'm not so sure about this development because now I have to keep an eagle eye on him all the time and make sure the bathroom doors stay closed. Add to that fact, he has now discovered how to turn on and off the water. Boy am I in trouble. I know try to remember to take off the handle so he can't turn it on. The only good thing is that I now know when he is ready to get out because he tries to do it himself.

Twilight
Take the Quiz and Share Your Results!
You are thoughtful and care very deeply for your family. A loving home is of great importance to you and you always try to make people feel welcome. Although you have a great capacity to love, you also have a great capacity to hurt, so at times you can be sensitive. You're firm when you need to be, but people trust your judgment and appreciate the kind way you always handle things.
I can't wait for the movie to come out, girls night!

Quirks
I got tagged by Kim P to list six of my quirks. I'm not sure you all are ready for this, but here it goes:
1. I make list, after list, after list. I love to write down what needs to be cleaned, what errands I have to run, what I have to buy, what I want to buy someday, goals to accomplish, etc. Sometimes Greg says I have to write a list of the lists to write! I don't have to do it but I like to. I love to see them get scribbled off and know that I have accomplished something. Also sometimes my memory fails me and it's nice to be able to look at something and remember where I was or what I have to do. I have discovered I get more done when I have a list.
2. I get very stressed out when new people are coming over and my house isn't clean, and if it isn't clean when they are here I usually can't relax the whole time they are here because I'm noticing everything that's dirty and thinking they are too. It's not disgustingly dirty but I like to have everything in it's place if I don't really know the people. Once I'm comfortable with you I really don't care. You'll discover sometimes my house is immaculate and other times it looks like a tornado has struck, ya never know what you are going to get. You'll usually find some dishes in my sink, toys all over, and laundry on the couch. What can I say.
3.Sorry Kim P. I have to copy you on at least one thing, the "crack junkie". I used to think popping my knuckles would hurt but I discovered it didn't I quickly started popping everything. My neck, back, elbows, fingers, wrists, knees, ankles, and toes. Just thinking about it makes me want to do it and especially if I hear someone else do it, I can't resist.
4. I can't stand the sound of people brushing their teeth. You can scratch chalk boards all you want but don't brush your teeth around me. I know it doesn't hurt but it sounds so painful to me. This is a recent development, probably the last year or so.
5. Ok Kim I have to copy one more. I love to pop zits, gross I know. The thing is I don't like to just pop mine, I don't have a lot of them which I know is a good thing. The real problem is if I can get ahold of Greg, he is in for it! It drives him nuts but I can't stand to look at them kowing that I could just hurry up and get rid of it for him.
6. I love to smell things. I am no where near as bad as Greg who will probably smell anything. I love to smell books, cars, food, candles, clothes, people, etc. If somebody tells me to smell something I probably will even if I know it is going to reak. The only exception has been when I was pregnant. Then I didn't want to smell anything.
So know that you all probably won't look at me the same way and think that I am a freak, I tag the following so that they can feel exposed like I do:
1. Kim Jones
2. Corina
3. Heidi
4. Jessica
5. Keri
6. Lark

Church Suit and Tiggs
For Axton's birthday I was able to find him a suit at a great price. I was tired of him looking like a scrub and always trying to find the nicest clothes in his closet to wear. The first time he wore it Greg couldn't resist the urge to do Axton's hair as well. I forget how curly it really is. Axton loves to have his hair brushed and played with, he must get that from Mommy and Grammy. For those of you who aren't aware of Axton's obsession with Tigger here is a video to let you see why Tigger, who is only 4 months old, looks like he could have been my toy.
The poor thing is almost completely bald from Axton ripping out his hair. I don't know why he does it but it brings great comfort to him to have a wad of Tigger in his hand while he sucks his thumb. After he falls asleep the wad ends up on the ground where Axton can get to it later. I find pieces of Tigger all over the place. I can't wait until he is furless, although Axton may not like it much and throw a fit. I guess we'll see.

Cooking (and canning)
Cooking Update:
So this month I was trying to increase my cooking skills and abilities. I would give myself an A on learning new things but only a C on cooking on a regular basis. Thank you to those who gave me new recipes. We didn't try a whole lot of new recipes because this month turned into a crazy month with visitors and going out of town, etc. But I did try a few new recipes.
Kim gave me her wonderful Honey Oat Bread recipe and the third time was a charm. The first 2 times it tasted fine but it didn't rise like it should have. Finally I got it to work and I think the secret is definately using the bread machine on the dough cycle. The first 2 times I tried to do it by hand because my "stolen" bread machine (thanks mom) doesn't work so great.
The other thing I learned was canning using the water-bath method. I got a ton of Utah peaches for really cheap and decided to can some of them and also make freezer jam. I think it was a success, I guess we'll find out in a few months if we get sick from eating them. Which is also why I didn't give anyway, I would feel horrible if someone got some that didn't seal right or who knows what. So until I get more confident at it I will only subject my immediate family to it!
(only a small portion of what I did)
My next goal: Exercise!!
My sister-in-law Kim and I have started trading off babysitting in the mornings so we can workout in the gym at our apartment complex. It has been great for everyone. Kim and I get to workout and feel better about ourselves and keep the body that God gave us healthy while the kids get to play with each other in different environments and start learning social skills. The other great thing is that we don't have to wake up extra early which most people, especially me, hate!
I would post before and after pictures but that would be really scary. Although a great motivator, it's not going to happen. I guess we'll see how this along with cooking goes over the next month.
