All things Kenzington

Poor Kenzington is definitely suffering from second child syndrome when it comes to the blog! At least we take pictures of her, but I haven't been very good at documenting her life or giving her the appropriate shout outs. So this is all in her honor!

Family Photos in April:

Kenz has turned 9 months old and I can't believe how quickly the time has flown. We went to the doctor today and her stats are: weight 16 lb 8 oz (10%), head is 16 3/4 in (12%), and height is 28 1/2 in (75%). She is tall and skinny!

She is my little overachiever too! At 3 months she was rolling, by 5 she was full out crawling, 7 she was pulling up on everything, and now at 9 months she stands up all by herself and has even take a few steps by herself on several occasions. I think it's just a matter of weeks before she's off and running. She says dada and mama (although I know she has no clue what those mean!) When ever you see her she has her tongue sticking out or some random toy shoved in her mouth while she crawls around. She still doesn't have a single tooth which is shocking to me. Her hair is finally coming in quite nicely (yes that's important to me, no 2 year old bald babies for us!).

This girl has become the easiest baby ever! We thought Axton was easy, how did we get so lucky with both of them?! I hope she stays easy forever! She has always been pretty good at sleeping, she would sleep through the night starting at 2 months, but before that she would just eat and go right down. She would have a week here and there that were difficult because she'd wake up more often but since she was 4 months (and we haven't traveled since then) she has slept through the night 95% of the time. Now that she is on a bottle (for the last month) and I'm no longer starving her she is happy to just hang out by herself. She'll wonder where ever she wants to and come find me if she wants me.

She gets really mad when Greg gets home if he walks right past her and doesn't give her attention. She's like a mad woman chasing him down screaming the whole way! It's the cutest thing ever and I love that both kiddos are attached to their daddy! She doesn't particularly care for men, but she's rarely around "strange" men. She'll go to just about any woman though, especially once she's been around them for a while. I think she took to Aunt Ashley (well soon to be!) the fastest.

Lets see what else can I share about this amazing little girl! She is such a joy in my life and reminds me to slow down and enjoy the craziness. She also helps me to be a better parent to Axton. Since there is no point yelling at a baby, she reminds me that there really is no point in yelling at a 4 year old! She reminds me that they both are learning so many new things all the time that I need to sit down with both and sing songs, read books, and just play with them!

So far when it comes to food she'll eat anything I give her, but she is hard to feed. She loves to feed herself so when I try to feed her it's a disaster with her trying to grab the spoon or shutting her mouth. So her diet consists of a lot of cheerios, banana chunks, yogurt bites, raisins, bits of egg, the fruit puff things, and veggie puffs. If I mix those things together on her tray she will pick out all of the yogurt bites first, then all of the fruit puffs, and then settle for the rest if I don't give in and give her more of the others. If I want to feed her there can't be anything with in her grasp or view to side track her.

She loves to be thrown in the air but if she gets to high she closes her eyes on the way back down! She loves to play with Axton, despite how rough he can get with her. She is still stingy with her laughs when it comes to adults but gives them freely to other kids. She likes to be swung back and forth like a pendulum and that gets the most laughs out of her. She hates swimming pools unless she is able to stand on a step and climb out. Maybe as it gets warmer she'll enjoy it more. She loves blankets. Anytime she finds one has to lay on it and rub her head against it!

And she always has a red nose, like the one of her in the dress that my mom made for her!

And one last things, she loves to get driven around by her older brother!

I love this girl to death. I want to keep her my baby forever! It's going by way too fast.

Live Below the Line

I'm a bzzagent and the next campaign I am involved in is Live Below the Line. The challenge is that from May 7th - 11th, individuals must use only $1.50 per day (per person) for food for 5 days. The goal is to bring to life the direct experiences of the 1.4 billion people currently living in extreme poverty and help to make real change.

I don't think this will be all that hard for me since I am going to make my family do it with me (since I do the shopping and cooking!) So with the 4 of us that's $6 a day or $30 for the 5 days. Truth be told that's not much less than we have for budgeted food anyways (I am going to donate to the cause the difference). We'll have to cut out any treats, make our own bread, limit our milk consumption, and eat pancakes, pb & j, and spaghetti everyday (semi-joking!).

The truth is $1.50 per person per day for food isn't that bad and in my opinion not living in "extreme poverty", otherwise I would be considered "poverty" level based on my food budget. However Live Below the Line acknowledges this and points out that "the $1.50 figure represents the amount someone living in extreme poverty in the U.S. would have to live on and that for most of the 1.4 billion living in "extreme poverty" the $1.50 doesn't cover JUST food, like it will for us, but also health, housing, transport, food, education, etc."

We americans really are spoiled!

So if you want to get involved you can go to livebelowtheline.com and sign up yourself for the challenge (and to raise money). Or if you'd rather just help me out you can go to www.livebelowtheline.com/me/breonneleavitt and donate some cold hard cash! Yeah don't mock my pathetic fundraising goal (I hate raising money!).

Well look forward to my follow up post in a month to see if we were successful!

What did I do today?

Sometimes I dread this question when Greg gets home. Especially on days like today. I feel like my house is a disaster that I can never stay on top of. I know many of you have homes that are always visitor ready, but I don't! It's not a habit I have mastered despite some great attempts. I try but often find some part of my house is a wreck at all times, usually our office. I would rather go see someone, go to the park or swimming, snuggle with the kiddos, read a book, bake, etc, than clean the house. So if I get the chance to procrastinate I usually do! So I have been wanting to find cleaning charts and suggestions that I feel like I can actually be successful with.

So today I decided I would spend an hour (or the entire day!) looking at different peoples charts, and online tools. After some awesome websites with lots of info I decided to make my own with the things I know I want to accomplish daily. The best websites I found were flylady.net which is linked to cozi.com. They were the starting point for my slighlty obsessed list. Then on to the creation. I love PSE but I could play on it all day long and finish nothing, which was part of my problem. So here is my finished result, that I am quite proud of, only now I wish had spent more time and embelished it more, hmmm, maybe I still will?!

So now we know what I did, and didn't do, today, what did you do?!

Ok I couldn't resist adding some embellishments to it so here is my final picture.

Easter (1 of 2)

Most of Greg's family came up Conference weekend to meet the "soon-to-be" new addition to our family. We all got to go to Ashley's parents house that Saturday afternoon so everyone could get to know each other. They were great hosts and even threw a little easter egg hunt into the mix for the kiddos. Unfortunately I didn't get the greatest pics since the baby was having a melt down and Axton's bag broke leading him to an almost melt down. So here is what I do have.

Brooklynn and Daniela finding eggs on the playhouse.

Talia (don't mind her too large swimsuit!)

Vanessa afraid someone might take the egg she spotted!

Axton showing me his broken bag (which led to his cousins taking some of his lost goods and meltdown!) Luckily when it was said and done his cousins where sweet enough to give him some of theirs since he only ended up with about 5 eggs.

Trying to get all of the Leavitt grandkids to smile at the same!

Axton had been begging me to make sugar cookies and cake pops for several months so I kept telling him I would for easter. Well easter approached before I was ready. So I was in a mad dash to get all the ingredients Thursday night. I made the cake Thursday, baked the cookies bright and early Friday since we were headed to the zoo. When we got back from the zoo I convinced G-ma Leavitt to help us frost them.

Later that night I was tired and didn't want to do the cake pops but Axton really wanted them so we started. I personally think they look like the ravaging rabbids game characters but this is what you get when you don't prepare a head of time and then can't find the ingredients you want. They tasted better than they look though if I may say so myself (and I don't like cake!).

All Things Christmas (part 1)

We started Christmas off by going to our ward Christmas party. It had the usual things like Santa who Axton still doesn't really like, he wouldn't touch him but at least he would smile for a picture.

They had cookies to decorate, hot chocolate, and churros. Axton of course wanted to go on the "train ride" over and over.

Baby girl all bundled up because it was whole a 50 degrees outside!

Our next celebration was at Greg's sisters house. We went to exchange presents with the kiddos and decorate cookies. Axton loves to help me make things so I put him to work making the cookies while baby sister watched.

All the kids decorating their cookies.

I don't need no stinking cookie!

Gift exchange:

Axton loved his McQueen slippers, unfortunatley they were too small so we returned them and he got some "Thomas the Train" engines instead.

I got this huge mug from a white elephant and Axton thoroughly enjoyed drinking out of it.

The only picture we have from Zoolights. This is what you do when you realize you have forgotten the baby carrier and your baby only wants to be held. Plus I was afraid she would be cold so luckily my coat was the perfect size for both of us!

At our Zoo they put up hundreds of lights in the shape of animals and then you can go see them at night after the zoo has shut down for the day. It was fun to go to once, I don't think we'll go again because it is so ridiculously expensive and it took us all of a half hour to see. I'd rather drive around and look at lights or go to the temple lights.

Blessing Day (Thanksgiving Part 2)

Sunday we blessed Kenzington. Greg did a wonderful job and the dress my mom bought for her was way too cute! I wish she could wear it more often. I think I am going to put her back in it for some more photos (it's only been 3 months since then!)

Needless to say getting that many people to smile for pictures was not going to happen so without photoshopping any of them this what we have!

Everyone came over after church and we had a BBQ. Then all of Greg's family started for home. It was great to see all of them and we were sad they were leaving. My family didn't leave until Tuesday though so we got to do more activities with them.

We decided to exchange Christmas presents with my side of the family since we were together. My mom gets the grandkids an ornament every year and then occasionally she does a family one as well. I love this tradition. She always finds such cute ones. Our family one was of reindeer, Kenzington's was a rattle, and Axton got Mater from CARS 2.

Aunt Heidi made Axton a carry for his cars, so now he can take a few where ever we go and it has a little road for him to drive them on.

Greg got a hat and some golfing stuff, just what the boy needs!

I got a necklace, cake pop book, and some things to decorate the cake pops with. They look so fun but I have yet to get daring and make them. Hopefully for Valentine's day or Easter.

Kenzington got a book with lots of bright pictures. Axton enjoyed opening her presents for her.

Monday we decided to go to the Phoenix Zoo. All of the animals were out and about. It was the most active we have seen the animals be.

Everyone left Tuesday morning bright and early. We were sad to see them leave since we had such a great time together. Axton still talks about when Logan came to visit and asks when he's going to come next! Guess next time we'll have to go see him instead!

Thanks everyone for coming and supporting us!
